The core of the band was made when iris(vocal) and Koichin(bass) met and formed a band “salt water taffy”.
Each of them were in their own bands prior to that, but they both just had broken up, and since they knew each other, they decided to form a band together.
The band went through a dozens of lead guitarists and drummers for years, and finally when Asano(lead guitar) and Ken(drums) joined, the band renamed its name to “taffy” and became what it is today.
Asano and Ken were both playing with other bands in Tokyo before taffy, but had been friends with salt water taffy as well.

八分目
最近は腹八分目を心がけてます。
心がけてるけどなかなかうまくいかないですね。
ところで、そろそろ暑くなるわけですけど
最近でもないですけど暑い季節にはアイスコーヒーを
飲んでおります。
以前はアイスコーヒーなんてけしからん。
と思ってたのですけど、なかなかどうして
美味しいですよ。
みなさんもいかがでしょうか。
ところで、この宇宙人の写真ニセモノだっていうじゃないか。
がっかりだよね。ロマンだよね。

ライブ三昧が一段落と思いきや撮影だの新曲作りだの普段の忙しさに拍車がかかる有難い日々を過ごしています。
今月7日にいよいよヨーロッパ全土でアルバム発売！ワクワクするも全く実感なし！笑。
一連のイギリスでの記事を読んでいると、その文章までもがウィットに飛んだとてもイギリスらしい褒め方にオシャレを感じる。
そして我々全くやれbrit popだのシューゲイズだの意識しない中色んなジャンルを並べて読者にtaffyを伝えようとしているのが嬉しい。
また一つのジャンルにくくれきられていないのも誇らしい。
中でもお気に入りな表現はart rock！
初めて使われた形容詞だ。
これは個人的見解だけど日本で俗にいうシューゲイザーにはパターンがある。このパターンに当てはまらないところで本家イギリスにシューゲイザーと言われる事程の名誉はない。
シューゲイズを意識せずもそう感じさせてしまうのはtaffyの性格が表れてしまっているのかね(^^)
